2000: Fabian (10 months) with "his" Micky ( 8 years), counting her teeth at the "International Dog Show, Dortmund"

History of the Cocker Academy

My interest in Cockers started when I got a golden bitch as a pet when I was a teenager (in 1974).

"Lana" became my first show dog and dam of a litter of ten.....

My prefix was registered in 1986 – the beginning of real breeding. Today we have an already established line of successful Cockers.

As dam "Beesly" (Cocker Academy Abi´s Burnished Bronze) has contributed so much to the "Cocker Academy", she was passing on her attributes, along with those of her litter´s sires.

Her progeny that have been exhibited have won well, more importantly she has produced sound healthy typical stock who in turn are producing the true Cocker type included her three golden daughters "Minnie" (Cocker Academy Eminent Enchantress),

"Micky" (Cocker Academy Exquisite Eglantine briar) and

Filly (Cocker Academy Flaxy Forelocked Filly).

Beesly was a joy to own (and to handle), her will to please will be remembered always, not only at home. Beesly had a rather short show career but nevertheless a number of wins, including BEST IN SHOW.

After Beesly has retired from the ring, Minnie and her sisters have kept the flag flying for the Cocker Academy and have proved their worth as brood bitches.

In addition to Minnie`s numerous titles, Filly

has won a nice number of tickets until (my) marriage and maternal duties kept us away from the ring for at least 8 (very long)years.  We must put Filly to sleep to prevent pain (Summer 2005).

Minnie has been very well placed in Veteran Stakes. I.e. BEST VETERAN (All Breeds, International Dog Show Erfurt/Germany), RESERVE BEST Veteran (All Breeds, International Dog Show Dortmund/Germany). Our thanks to her owner: Gerdina Hyzyk (of Coltie Company), Eutzsch

Our black bitches last but not least. Handpicked Hollyhock (Racker) and Highclass Harlequeen (Queenie) are Micky´s daughters. "Queenie" is her mother´s perfect copy in black with the same wonderful "classic" head and

Racker was the best nurse and companion of our son - so much like her mother, too -  until her very sudden death in 2008 only 5 weeks after the diagnosis "osteosarkoma".
Queenie died in an accident August 2005.

Dam of our last litter:  Ida (born in 2001)

Our  stud dog,  Multi Champion Grassland Ghost (Import Spain) is still winning at all levels.

"There is no such kind, such submissive, such loyal and lively dog as the cocker is: his mind makes the dog to be especially interesting. Intelligence, goodness and artfulness harmonize in him very good. His submission is explained not by a wish to curry favour, but by understanding of unity with the master, actions of whom the dog anticipates, his loyalty is great". (Vilar)
